Peace on Earth
John 1:12
12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
After The Fall, there was no peace on Earth. When sin crept into the man's heart it corrupted God's perfect creation and destroyed the relationship between man and God, leaving mankind in a wicked state. Human history is marked by war, betrayal, uncertainty and every type of sin. From the first family, to the present day with every disaster in between, humans cannot experience true peace without the God of the Bible. When Jesus was born, he was the embodiment of peace, joy, love, faithness, justice, mercy and so much more on this earth. He was the exact opposite of all the values found in this corrupt world. The world hated Him and crucified Him, not knowing that it was God's plan for Him to be a sacrifice for "...all of those who receive Him..." (John 1:12) Jesus was teaching His disciples and said: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” As a new creation our longings are not in this world! Christ brings us eternal peace and all the satisfactions found in His Word! Jesus promised He would not leave us alone on this earth and He sent the Holy Spirit who dwells in us. The Holy Spirit gives us peace and guides us through any uncertainty. No matter what happens in this world we are no longer captive to fear. Oh how true is the verse found in Romans 8:15
Who can give you that? Only by His grace the peace that was once in the garden of Eden has been restored through the blood of Christ, and the born-again man and God are walking together and enjoying fellowship. This peace that comes from God will stay with us every second of the day and will fill us with contentment and joy because of Christ's sacrifice and His grace. Oh, what a gift!
